  Babington's History
Over 100 years of tradition.

At the foot of the Spanish Steps, in the legendary Piazza di Spagna, stands the most exclusive and traditional Tea Rooms in Rome: Babington’s English Tea Rooms.

Established in 1893 by two English ladies, Anna Maria Babington and Isabel Cargill, when tea could only be found in pharmacies, Babington’s has maintained for over a century the style and atmosphere of the period.

---------------------------------------

Ever since Babington’s English Tea Rooms has been synonymous with the art of serving tea the 'English way' and has become the favourite meeting place for writers, actors, artists, politicians and those in search of privacy and comfort.

To this day the historical Tea Rooms remain a family run business and a corner of English heritage tucked away from the bustle of modern day life. At any time throughout the day you can choose from a mouth-watering variety of freshly-baked cakes, fine teas, light luncheons and other delights from its original location on Piazza di Spagna.
